3 Types Of Exercise Equipment That Are Safe For Seniors

senior_treadmill_fitness-LRIt is very important that seniors stay active as they get older. Thankfully, there are several different types of exercise equipment that are completely safe for seniors to use. Here are three great pieces of exercise equipment they should consider using.

Exercise Bikes

Exercise bikes are stationary bikes that most seniors can use with ease. These bikes are excellent for seniors because they allow them to work their legs at a speed and resistance level that works for them. The bikes can also be used indoors in an air conditioned and otherwise comfortable and safe facility. The bikes also offer full support for a senior's back as they are cycling, so if they suffer from lower back pain, this gives them the support they need.

Elliptical Machine

If a senior is looking for a great way to get in some low impact cardio, then an elliptical is an excellent piece of exercise equipment to use. The senior has the ability to choose both the incline and the resistance on the elliptical, and many even have pre-programmed exercises to choose from that get the senior's heart rate within a certain zone.

Resistance Bands

Lastly, resistance bands are excellent for seniors to use because they allow them to do strength training exercises for both their upper and their lower body. Most resistance bands come in different colors that represent different levels of resistance. This makes it easy for the senior to easily see which bands work the best for them and their strength level.

Overall, the use of exercise equipment by seniors is a great thing that can help them stay healthy as they age. Exercise bikes, elliptical machines, and resistance bands are all excellent pieces of equipment that they can use regularly.
